Do your have an Identity Crisis?

Do you have an identity crisis?Do you have an Identity Crisis? I do. You see, my email address has been poached by some opportunist internet marketers. And it’s changed how I see myself.

It’s made me look at how others could be perceiving me. Let’s face it, it’s hard not to be influenced by others opinions of my ideas. I write, I blog and therefore I open myself up to others opinions.

It wasn’t until this latest email identity was poached that I saw myself in a myriad of different roles, courtesy of whoever’s using it for their own ends.

So far, the ones I’ve seen have offered big lottery wins, to good to miss bargains covering a whole range of dodgy offers, and my favourite by far, the sexual favours I’m apparently keen to share.

Oh Lordy, these offers are so not me. But, the people who see my trusted email address don’t know they don’t originate from me. What if they’re tempted because they think it’s who I am.

Do you identify with my identity crisis yet?

Because those spam emails are a perfect metaphor for how others can believe they’re seeing the real me.

Take the lottery offers. In real life, I may be writing about abundance and how it’s freely available to you, and me. There are a million books selling ‘how to achieve abundance’ out there with this, or that, method to follow.

Nothing wrong with that. Each of us has our path to abundance. It will mean something different to you than what it means to me.

So, you open my ‘how to’ win big on the lottery email and decide to invest. After all, if it worked for me, it could be just the thing for you. You have no idea it’s not real at this stage.

You’re not seeing the real me. You’re seeing a version you want to see. The version that solves all your abundance wants. It’s doomed from the minute you click ‘yes’.

I have opinions about how abundance works for me. There are no guarantees they’ll work for anybody else. My wants are so different from yours, that if I did have a magic wand, it more than likely wouldn’t work for you.

Truthfully, I can show you little steps to happiness, peace of mind and inner well-being. It’s what I do. Once you follow whichever steps strike an inner chord with you, you’ll probably discover another step to take you further on your quest for genuine, bona fide, abundance.

That step could come from anyone, or anywhere. It will not come from a hyped up version of the Jan you know. Because I’m not selling anything but ebooks.

No false promises, no too good to be true bargains, and definitely no sexual favours.

How’s your identity crisis coming along? Can you see how others may get an impression of you that’s simply not real? Easy to be misunderstood isn’t it.

This is how I deal with my identity crisis. I ignore it. All those spam emails that reach me get consigned to the trash bin. I let them go. I don’t give them another thought.

And it’s the same in real life. I can only be me, as you can only be you. If their version doesn’t tally with mine, I don’t waste time trying to convince them otherwise.

How people choose to see me is their choice. If they’re looking for something I’m not offering, I can’t be certain they won’t see exactly what they’re looking for, however much I try to convince them otherwise, because that’s what human beings do.

They see what they want to see. They hear what they want to hear. They buy into what appeals to them. My pleas to be listened too would most likely be tolerated, and/or ignored, because it wouldn’t solve what they were looking for.

You don’t have an identity crisis. I don’t have an identity crisis. They only exist in our imaginations.

Be yourself. That’s the only person you can be. Leave how others free how they choose to identify you. That way, you’ll be living your life exactly as you want to. If you don’t then those identity thieves are choosing for you.

Your choice, your life, your identity. Go live it.
